What we collect, and why.

The committee is run by volunteers. We ask for your details when you write to us, and we use them to write back. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with other campaigns or committees.

If you never use the contact form, the only record of your visit is the ordinary web server log described below.

Sending the form on the contact page gives us your name, your email address, the city or township you enter, the subject you pick, and your message. We use them to answer you and to pass your question to the right volunteer.

Along with the message we record the IP address the submission came from, your browser's user agent string, and the country our host reports. That is there to deal with abuse of the form, not to build a profile of you.

Your message is stored in a database run by our website host and is also emailed to the committee's inbox, so that a message is never lost if the email fails.

Contact form submissions are deleted after 24 months. Email we have replied to lives in the committee's inbox and is kept no longer than we need it.

You can ask us to delete your message sooner and we will, unless we are required to keep it. Write to info@calhouncountygop.com and say which message you mean.

The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which works out whether a submission came from a person or a script. It looks at your browser and your IP address to do that. It is not an advertising product and it does not follow you to other sites.

Our site is hosted on Cloudflare, so Cloudflare also keeps the ordinary server logs any host keeps: the pages requested, the time, and the IP address they came from.

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies and shares that data with Google under Google’s own privacy policy.

That is the only tracker on this site. We run no advertising pixel: nothing here reports back to Facebook, Instagram or any ad network. If that changes this page changes first.

Besides counting page visits we record four things you might do: sending the contact form, clicking through to donate, clicking through to join as a member, and clicking through to the email list. We record that it happened and which of those it was, not who you are.

None of it identifies you by name. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal we do not load Google Analytics at all, and record nothing. Browser settings and extensions that block analytics stop it too, and nothing on this site will break.

The Donate buttons hand you to WinRed, and the email list signup hands you to Mailchimp. Once you are on their pages, their privacy policies apply and we never see your card details.

Links to the Secretary of State, the county, and officials' own pages go to those organisations, who decide what they collect.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the form, email us and we will delete it.
